The Day Before The Full Moon

The rain fell as heavy as her sighs
The night, dark like hours before first light
My mother, my heart and the songs she had sung

The wind howled as loud as the winds that caressed forest trees
The fire grew hast,
Her voice swimming through the cracks in between echoes of the night
My mother, my heart and the songs she had sung

The tears fell as heavy as hail
The night, dark like the hours of no moon
My mother, my heart and the songs she had hummed

Her silence howled like wild beasts that lurk in the shadows of our rooms
The loneliness spread fast like the wild fires her songs had put out
Her voice echoing through the cracks her songs had patched
My mother, my heart and the songs she had sung.

The full moon came as graciously as a memory and faded like our last lifeline on the horizon

My mother, my heart and the songs that she had sung
